Million Sunflower Garden 百万葵园 – Guangzhou, China

        Sunflower is among beautiful flowers ever exist on earth with a life span of 50 days. The fresh feed of sunflower is a good remedy for acne sufferers. If you are a sunflower lover, you might find Million Sunflower Garden in Guangzhou the most stunning place to enjoy the beauty of sunflowers. In summer 2009, my friends and I took quite a long journey to the Million Sunflower Garden. Not many tourists know this ecological garden since it is less famous compared to other tourist spots. However, it is regarded as one of the most interesting places in Guangzhou as spotted in the Guangzhou travel map. So, visiting the garden will give you a totally different experience from other common tourist visitors.  

        The Million Sunflower garden is situated in the Panyu area, which needs two-hour trip from the central Guangzhou. Take MTR until you reach the Jinzhou station.  From that point, continue by taking a cab or a special bus that takes visitors to the park. On weekends and holidays, you could take a shuttle bus that usually runs from Guangzhou Zoo to the site, which operates at 9 am – 5 pm. The park is open everyday from 9 am to 5 pm with the admission fee of 68 Yuan for adults.

        Kelinci itu dikenal sebagai salah satu binatang yang mempunyai indera pendengaran yang baik. Kelinci dianugerahi Tuhan dengan sepasang telinga yang panjang sehingga dapat menangkap gelombang suara dari jarak jauh sekalipun. Oleh karena itu, ia dapat bersiap siaga jika ada musuh yang berusaha untuk menangkap atau membahayakan dirinya.

        Ngomong-ngomong soal kelinci, tahun 2011 ini menurut orang-orang Chinese dipercayai sebagai tahun kelinci. Banyak prediksi mengenai tahun 2011. Ada sebagian orang yang berkata bahwa tahun kelinci adalah tahun naik turun sama seperti kelinci yang suka melompat. Ada kalanya orang akan naik, dan ada kalanya juga akan mengalami masa-masa sukar. Ada juga yang percaya bahwa tahun ini akan membawa berkah. Bagi kebanyakan orang tahun kelinci dapat diartikan bermacam-macam, namun bagi anak-anak Tuhan, tahun kelinci adalah tahun di mana kita harus mempunyai pendengaran yang tajam sama seperti kelinci. Apapun prediksi orang di luar sana, yang terpenting sebagai anak-anak Tuhan dan orang yang percaya kepadaNya adalah hanya suaraNya sajalah yang harus kita dengar.

Yuexiu Park 越秀公园 – Guangzhou, China

        The school bell rang and I rushed to the MTR station to meet with my friends. We were about to go to the largest park in Guangzhou, called Yue Xiu Park. I had actually planned to visit the park with some other friends, but unfortunately at that time it was holiday and the site was absolutely packed with people queuing on the ticket counter. So we called off our plan. Thank God on the day I visited the park for the second time, it was less crowded.

        Yue Xiu park is so famous not only because of its massive area, but also because it has the statue of five rams on top of the mountain which has been regarded as the symbol and emblem of Guangzhou city by the local people. You could even find the picture of the statue printed on the MTR card. The park is accessible by bus, MTR or taxi, with the fastest of all is MTR. So, take MTR until you reach Yue Xiu Park station, and just follow the directions on the board until you get there. The admission fee to the park is 5 Yuan, with an additional of 5 Yuan if you would like to buy the tourist guide map. With the map, you could know the name of the sites you visit and it prevents you from getting lost in such large park.

Jinlun Guild Hall 锦伦会馆– Guangzhou, China

        Before I and my brother went to the Hualin temple on that day, we arrived in a place called Jinlun Guild Hall. I watched the building from outside, wondering what it really was. The old-fashioned building with gray brick stones sticking each other aroused my curiosity to visit it. As I entered the room, I had to pay a certain amount of money but I forgot how much it was exactly. What I saw inside was just a spacious empty hall with some pictures hanging on the wall. I and my brother explored the place and found out other cultural relics. There was only three of us inside, including the ticket man.

Sacred Heart Cathedral 圣心大教堂 – Guangzhou, China

 

         One of the best moments in my life is living in Guangzhou, where freedom of self gains its highest recognition. I could do many things without much pressure or restraint and explore places without fear or worries about the security. The atmosphere, the people, the food,  the environment, the places, so many things about Guangzhou make me unable to forget that beautiful city. After school time, I and my friends often visited several shopping centers in Guangzhou just to get in contact with the local people and gain some knowledge about how they do business. One of my most-visited shopping centers was Yi De Lu, which is the center of accessories trade. You could find anything here starting from key chains to clothes with extremely cheap prices.

        On one of my visits to Yi De Lu, my friends and I went to a monumental church called the Sacred Heart Cathedral. It was quite difficult to find it since it is located in the heart of Yi De Lu area and there was no clear direction to go there. When we arrived at the entrance gate, it was locked. I then approached the security man and asked in Chinese “can we go in?”, he said “no, you can't. It's closed”. I replied “We are tourists, why can't we go in?” After saying this, he finally let us enter the building. We indeed need persistence to reach an agreement with the local Chinese.
